What to ask when taking on a new Social Media client

Tell us about your business

The more they can tell you about their brand the easier it will be to create content that is true to their brand voice. Ask them to give you an introduction to their organisation. Check out their website which should provide a lot of information. Are they working directly with other businesses (B2B) or more with customers (B2C)?

Who is your Audience and where are they?

While this may seem obvious, it is not always the case. They are a specific group of customers most likely to respond positively to  promotions, products, and services. Often, a target audience will be based on specific factors like location, age, income, etc.

What are your Social media goals?
  • Increase Sales
  • Grown Social Media followers
  • Increase Engagement with more comments etc
  • Drive users to the website
  • Fill Social Media with relevant and interest posts
Who are your  competitors?

Check out their competitors and you will see who are performing well on social media, which you can then use  for inspiration and a guide that what they are doing is working.

What Social Platforms are you currently using?

It is important to know what the company has been doing on Social Media to date. It will help you understand what is and isn’t working.

What Type of content appeals?

Social Media is all about content. Finding out what kind of content they have used in the past, how they have used it and the resources they have allocated to it will help you leverage what’s working and identify new opportunities to test in your campaigns.

What Industry News Sources are available?

Ask about third-party resources like blogs and magazines that you can reference. It will help provide relevant content for social media posts.
